RUSSIA AND BULGARIA: THE LONG-STANDING TRADITION OF FRIENDSHIP AND TODAY’S CHALLENGES |
 On the eve of my visit to Bulgaria I would like to share my thoughts about our current relations and the prospects for cooperation between our countries.
We share common spiritual and cultural traditions and linguistic affinities, as a result of the heroic efforts made by two saints esteemed equally in Russia and Bulgaria, Cyril and Methodius. The most vivid pages of our joint history involve the liberation struggle of the Bulgarian people, when Russian volunteers fought for Bulgaria. These years marked an important stage in the establishment of civil society in Russia.

РОССИЙСКИЙ ПОДАРОК БОЛГАРСКИМ ШКОЛЬНИКАМ |
 20 декабря с.г. в Посольстве России в Болгарии состоялась церемония вручения учебников русского языка "Приглашение в Россию" представителям 45 болгарских высших и средних учебных заведений, входящих в Национальную ассоциацию учебных заведений с углубленным изучением русского языка. В мероприятии приняли участие Посол России в Болгарии А.В.Потапов, заместитель министра образования и науки Болгарии В.Добрева, главный секретарь компании "Овергаз" Г.Николов, учителя болгарских школ и преподаватели институтов.

О ВЫБОРАХ ДЕПУТАТОВ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОЙ ДУМЫ ФЕДЕРАЛЬНОГО СОБРАНИЯ РОССИЙСКОЙ ФЕДЕРАЦИИ |
 2 декабря с.г. состоялись выборы депутатов в Государственную Думу Федерального Собрания Российской Федерации (нижнюю палату парламента России) пятого созыва. Избиратели голосовали за кандидатов от 11 политических партий, зарегистрированных Центральной избирательной комиссией. Выборы проводились по пропорциональной системе.

CELEBRATION OF THE 50-TH ANNIVERSARY OF ALIOSHA’S MONUMENT |
 On 9 November 2007 the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Aliosha’s monument took place in Plovdiv. Although it is a monument in honour of the Soviet Army, it is famous as “Aliosha” and during the years it became the symbol of the town. Down the years “Aliosha” went through a lot of trials and became the embodiment of the unity between Russian and Bulgarian people, which remained undestroyable neither by the time nor by the political changes.

THE VICE-MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF RUSSIA V. G. TITOV VISITED BULGARIA |
 On 23 November the Vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation V. G. Titov was received in Sofia by the President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov. Negotiations with the Vice-Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs I. Kalfin and Vice-minister of Foreign Affairs E. Koldanova also took place.

The Bulgarian General Prosecutor Boris Velchev arrived in Moscow at the invitation of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yriy Chayka.
At the meeting, held on 8 October at the Office of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation the parties discussed the problems of collaboration between the two departments

A VISIT OF A DELEGATION FROM THE RUSSIAN CHAMBER OF ACCOUNTS |
|
On 8-12 October a delegation from the Chamber of Accounts of the Russian Federation, led by the auditor A. V. Nazarov visited Bulgaria in order to exchange experience and to enlarge the collaboration. Within the visit the representatives of the Russian Chamber of Accounts participated in a lot of undertakings including the seminar “Audit of the Effectiveness of Using the Public Funds in Integration of Education and Scientific Activities”.
